“Travelling to Pattaya - Thailand - From Bangkoks` Suvarnabhumi Airport”

“Travelling to Pattaya - Thailand - From Bangkoks` Suvarnabhumi Airport” or should I say “Getting to Pattaya - Thailand - From Bangkoks` Suvarnabhumi Airport  is really quite easy to do.

Pattaya is a large seaside resort, and a major city in Thailand, located on the east coast of The Gulf of Thailand, and is situated about 165 km (100 miles) southeast of Bangkok. Pattaya has a rapidly growing estimated population of 120,000, and although the sex industry still accounts for a major slice of its income, the local authorities in Pattaya, are attempting to increase the overall appeal by constantly providing more "family friendly" activities attractions and events.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is located in the south of Bangkok. It`s only 120 kilometres, that`s about 75 miles from Pattaya Central Road. Your journey to Pattaya is nearly all motorway, and you`ll have to pay to go through a few toll booths, so if you`re travelling in a taxi, or a hired car - make sure you have some smaller notes with you - to save time!

Once you`ve cleared customs, and had your free 30 day visa stamped, you`re at liberty to go anywhere in Thailand that you please - well almost! I recommended that before you even think of starting your holiday in Pattaya, now is a good time to change some money at the airport!  The rates vary daily, but generally at the airport they are very good - if not excellent. All the exchange kiosks and bureaus, clearly display their current rates on easy to read electronic notice boards. Here, like everywhere else in Thailand - please have a good look around and secure your best possible deal.(£50 is more than enough  to cover your journey, along with any refreshments and expenses you may incur when getting to Pattaya).

Please remember, it`s not how you drive - it`s how you arrive - so travel safely!

Travel at a safe speed, (if the taxi is going too fast –  ask him politely to slow down), to make your journey to pattaya more enjoyable. Non-stop, it should take you little more than an hour and a half. However, if you prefer to sample Thailand "first hand” at your earliest opportunity, then stop off at the services. There`s only one stop on the express way to Pattaya, and that`s about 20 minutes after leaving the airport. Here you`ll be able to buy everything you need for your journey to Pattaya, including a superb selection of refreshments. If you use the WC facilities, always take a few sheets of toilet paper or tissue with you. Now that`s a great tip for wherever you "go" in Thailand - believe me!

  1. Hi Keith. Thanks for the information but can you tell me is it wise to turn in Pattaya unannounced as it were. Or is it best to pre-book my accommodation prior to departure thus ensuring somewhere to stay on that first night.
